The mission of the Roy J. Carver Center for Genomics is to support the research needs of investigators within the
Department of Biology. In addition, the CCG also caters to the research needs of other
University of Iowa investigators as well as external research groups.
The goal is to facilitate and harness advances though collaborative and interdisciplinary research to tackle unexplored
questions related to molecular and cellular processes, functional genomics, and molecular, organismal and species evolution.
The Roy J. Carver Center for Genomics supports research and training of graduate and undergraduate
students through close integration into the curriculum in Biology and through cooperative interactions with other Departments
and faculty members on campus.
The University of Iowa and the State of
Iowa are committed to the future development of the
Department of Biology and the Center.
The CCG supports a large and energetic as well as diverse group of faculty and investigators that are pushing the envelope of
modern genomic biology with empirical and theoretical interests in both fundamental and applied areas of biology.
