Carver Center for Genomics - Teaching
The education and training of research scientists is central to the doctoral program in the
Department of Biology. The program gives graduate students the knowledge and skills
they need to conduct state-of-the-art research in their areas of specialty. Graduates have found careers in academia,
government, and industry. Members of the Center and faculty in the
Department of Biology
are deeply involved in developing a core of courses that will prepare students on the most dynamic
and active areas in the field. These areas include each faculty's own research interests, thus granting first-hand and
up-to-date knowledge and allowing students to be highly prepared and competitive in their scientific careers.
The Center and faculty in the
Department of Biology involves an
energetic and experienced group of faculty and investigators that are pushing the envelope of modern evolutionary
genetics and ecology. The empirical and theoretical interests of CCG PIs include genomics, bioinformatics, population
genetics, molecular, chromosome evolution, speciation, coevolution, conservation biology and other areas.
