  Identification of proper placement of Paulinella Chromatophora within algal lineages,
supported by an Avis Cone Fellowship for summer research through the Biological

  Learned various techniques while working in three different laboratories working in evolution
Projects included:
Identification of inversion breakpoints in Drosophila chromosomes using large fragment
(10-20 KB) PCR and BLAST
Identification of gall formation genes using RNA Extraction, cDNA Synthesis, subtractive
library construction, cloning, sequencing, and data base mining
Reconstructing the Tree of Life by sequencing specific genes from multiple algal species and
conducting phylogenetic analysis
