The Department of Biology at The University of Iowa, is a nationally recognized research center, that offers:

  • 32 full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty,
  • 55 graduate students from all parts of the world,
  • a Four- to Six-year Ph.D. Program,
  • a Two- to Three-year Masters Program,
  • a first-year rotation through your choice of three labs,
  • a multi-disciplinary structure to provide diverse graduate and post-doctoral training opportunities,
  • research performed in close collaboration with faculty, postdoctural fellows and senior graduate students,
  • faculty funding from a variety of grants,
  • the opportunity to teach and perform independent research,
  • encouragement for graduate students to merge faculty expertise with their own independent research,
  • state-of-the-art computer and research facilities,
  • and Departmental Facilities that are continually renovated and updated to reflect technological advances.
