Pamela Wilhoite, MSW, became an Academic Advisor in November of 2021. She currently advises Neuroscience and African American Studies students.

She first came to Iowa City right after the flood in 2008 as a Music Therapy major. Pamela knew she wanted to go into Counseling, so she transferred to the School of Social Work in 2009, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2013. Even though she didn't major in biology, she has always enjoyed science and doing science projects as a child. She won second place in a science fair with her experiment "How To Make An Egg Float." Pamela graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2021 with her Master of Social Work with an Advanced Clinical Concentration. She came back to Iowa City in August of 2021 and became an employee at the university. Pamela serves on the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team and also the DEI Committee in the Department of Biology.

In her free time, she enjoys performing. She sings, directs, and is very involved in the community and her church. She also does a lot of civic engagement as a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

Pamela is happy to be back where it all began: “I still love my Black and Gold! Go Hawks!”
