Congratulations to Integrated Biology (iBio) PhD student, Tara Hicks, on receiving a Dissertation Writing Fellowship from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa! Her project is entitled, "The Role of R-Loops and Temporally Regulated DSB Repair in Germline Genomic Stability." Sarit Smolikove, Associate Professor of Biology, is Tara's mentor. 

"The purpose of the Dissertation Writing Fellowship is to provide ten students each year with the precious gift of time to complete a PhD dissertation, thus having the beneficial effects of improving degree completion rates and reducing time to degree."
